Dr. Chavely Valdes Sanchez is a dedicated nephrologist currently practicing at Florida Kidney Physicians in Coral Gables, FL. She began her journey in medicine at The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, where she earned her M.D. in 2019 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at Florida International University.

Dr. Valdes Sanchez’s commitment to excellence in patient care led her to pursue rigorous training, starting with an Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Miami-Holy Cross Hospital from 2019 to 2022. During her residency, she was honored with the Intern of the Year Award for her exemplary dedication and service. Following this, she pursued specialized training in nephrology through a Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System, where she is set to complete her program in June 2024.

Throughout her academic journey, Dr. Valdes Sanchez has demonstrated a passion for serving her community and advancing medical education. She has been recognized for her leadership as President of the Penn State Latino Medical Student Association and Vice President of the Student National Medical Association. Her commitment to mentorship and community service is evident in her roles as Special Olympics Coordinator for the Gold Humanism Honor Society and her involvement with the Literacy Council of Lancaster, where she mentored foreign-trained physicians.

Dr. Valdes Sanchez’s research contributions span diverse areas of nephrology and medical education. She has presented her findings at numerous conferences and has been involved in projects investigating topics such as medical interpreter training’s impact on empathy development in medical students and rare nephrological conditions.

In addition to her clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Valdes Sanchez is fluent in both English and Spanish, enhancing her ability to connect with and serve a diverse patient population. Her fluency in Spanish has been instrumental in her volunteer work, including providing medical interpretation at Volunteers In Medicine Clinic in Lebanon, PA, and instructing medical interpreter training workshops at Penn State.
