Dr. Alejandro Pepen Romero is a highly accomplished, board-certified nephrologist with a diverse clinical background and extensive leadership experience. He earned his medical degree from the Instituto Tecnologico de Santo Domingo (INTEC) in the Dominican Republic, where he began his journey in healthcare.
His passion for internal medicine and nephrology led him to the United States, where he completed his internal medicine residency at Nassau University Medical Center in New York.
Following this, Dr. Pepen pursued a nephrology fellowship at the prestigious Winthrop University Hospital, where he developed specialized expertise in the diagnosis and management of kidney diseases.
Dr. Pepen’s professional journey spans over 15 years of practice in internal medicine and nephrology, during which he has held several key roles. In the Dominican Republic, he worked as an attending physician in general medicine at Hospital Frances de Santo Domingo and Hospiten Group. Upon completing his fellowship, he joined Delmont Medical Care in New York as both a nephrologist and internist, providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population. During his time there, he was also appointed Medical Director of Main Street Dialysis Center, where he played a critical role in overseeing the care of dialysis patients and improving outcomes for those with chronic kidney disease.
Currently, Dr. Pepen is a nephrologist at Kidney Care Center in Tampa, Florida, where he continues to provide top-tier care to his patients, managing a wide range of kidney disorders, including hypertension, chronic kidney disease, and end-stage renal disease.
His clinical expertise extends to dialysis treatments, renal biopsies, and vascular access management. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Pepen has demonstrated a strong commitment to research and education. He has presented several studies at national conferences, including the American Society of Nephrology, where his work on health disparities and their impact on chronic kidney disease was well received. His research interests also include renal amyloidosis, where he contributed to advancing understanding of the condition through case reports and presentations.
Dr. Pepen's pursuit of excellence in nephrology is further reflected in his dedication to continuous learning. He has completed numerous advanced courses and workshops in nephrology, dialysis, and vascular access, ensuring that he remains at the forefront of his field. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Dr. Pepen is deeply committed to providing compassionate, personalized care to his patients, making a lasting impact on their health and well-being.
